Like capn_ron said... Check out some of the studios you would like to work at and try to meet some peeps that are working there. Having a name to drop or a story to reference of a current employee can get you far.
It's very important to get in somewhere and start working asap. The experience you will gain in the first 6 months will totally change your perspective of what it's like to be a designer. At least for me it did. I look back now and realize I didn't know shit after school. Just keep trying and things will fall into place. Good luck.
