I am not dissing his effort, I have masses of respect for anyone who suceeds in producing art that they believe in. I am questioning the pluadits this type of derivitive stuff gets from the industry. It just seems it is put in this cutting edge bracket because it is 'urban'. It is not a patch (in terms of interesting new ideas) on say Roni Size (former Mercury winner). It doesn't make you sit up and listen like say the Prodigy stuff did. It is bland, his rymes are weak and it brings nothing new to the table. There is nothing wrong with producing music like this, it is the praise it gets that pisses me off. It is the same with 50 cent, just another standard DR Dre sound rapper - essentially the same sound as all the other Dre bitches (snoop, Xibit etc.) but he is lauded as something amazing. It is bollox.
