To be honest, I dont find the 17-40 that great on my 30D (crop). Its not that wide and it doesnt have much zoom. 40mm isnt really great or flattering for portraits/gigs (70-200 range is much better, primes are best). It really comes into its own on a FF body where it becomes a great super wide angle. The 10-22 on a 30D is effectively the same/similar range as the 17-40 on a 5D if that makes sense.
You need to work out what you want to shoot most and whether you will be shooting crop bodies for a while. There is a perfect lens for every type of shoot.
- Quality, contrast, sharpness, colour, build, af, price is all awesome with this lens though.slappy
