While I'm not saying it's impossible, I doubt that you can find a credible source that states that people like ads with people.

I think its people like good ads, with or without people.

What I do think is that, a lot of times big faceless corporations use people in order to humanize their image, (think of mac annoying hey I'm a mac ads for example, non designers usually list apple as an example of good design).

I do think sometimes people identify themselves with ad models, very roughly and subconsciously would translate into something like "look at that guy, he looks like me/ that looks good on him, if I use that product people will see a bit of him in me"

Of course that is not what everyone thinks (maybe llyod does) but on a subconscious level, I think models establish a more human connection with consumers, but that doesn't mean its going to be positive.

    Example:

I see a lot of people, mostly meatheads or jocks wearing Ed hardy shirts, besides the fact that the clothes are horrible, I would never buy anything from that brand fearing I might get associated with guidos or jocks.
And since all their shirts feature a huge logo on the front, those people become moving ads, which affect people differently.

    • yes - it puts normal people off and sexually arouses jocks and guidos.bulletfactory
