    This is my ~$1000 upgrade. I already have a case/power supply/dvd drive.
$299 - Intel Core i7 2.66 (you can overclock this considerably)
    $160 - EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800
    $299 - ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA 1366
    $200 - G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600
    $140 - Windows Vista Business

You could easily shave some money off by getting a core 2 quad proc and some ddr2 memory.

    • i7 is the way forward - the upgrade path for it will last for at least 5 years, should you wish to swap for a higher clockNairn
    • Personally, where the OS is concerned, I'd rather go with XP and hold out for Win7.Nairn
    • this looks good. do you have a big PSU? you probably need ~1000W for that setupmonNom
    • this is great!soynutz7

    • Agreed, stick with XP. I'm running Vista Ultimate and i get a ton of compatability problems with applicationsbooya
