If the image over all has some sort of distressed look to it that isn't easily faked, and what you need to re-spell out isn't terribly long, you might try stealing existing letters and repositioning them into your new text, if that's doable. If not, find a matching font, then after adding new type, try to match what ever distressed feel on top. Blurring a touch, adding noise, and capturing an area of texture, hitting it with hipass then setting to a mode that works are all effective routes.
