  used to use sifr. Definitely a good thing.
  But lately I went to for less painful javascript free tecnique (for headlines at least):
  1) I do the gif of the piece i need.
  2) I use it as a bg image for the tag i need
  3) i set the indent as -6000px so the html text isn't visible.

  But if i had to use custom type for dynamic sites I'd use sifr.
