    Its about the dot gain of inks on paper. The hight the density of ink, the more ink is actually being laid on the stock, so this can cause problems, depending on the stock being used.

    Ie, newspapers have lower ink density percentages because he paper is lighter and more porus, it absorbs more ink which means the ink can spread and cause loss of detail such as letters filling in when reversed out of large colours and it can also increase drying time for a job.

    • Can also cause issues if you producing something that folds (ie, CD Digipack) - if the inks too dense it can crack on the fold...
