As for working with US companies, I've used the contract for work with clients outside the UK (Europe mainly and a pesky Canadian) and have had no problems.
The contract is very much aimed as use with UK based clients and I do specify in the contract that any disputes will be subject to a hearing under UK law and in a UK court so I think you should be fine but if you're in any way unsure, please do check with a solicitor before using it!!!
