On a separate idea:
Are forgiving and forgetting really that separate?
I don't think they are that separate all the time. If you don't forget (as many people claim), perhaps not forgetting leads to remembering. Remembering means you keep mentioning the "indiscretion" to the "culprit" (for lack of a better word), either consciously or otherwise, or that it festers within yourself and you end up taking out your anger on the other person, pretending that it's about a different issue altogether when it really isn't. When you remind someone else of the "wrongdoings" they did to you: to some, this means that you never really forgave them at all.
