that's 2-3 sec per thought per application ... per everything on your machine which equals lots of time wasted just waiting for your computer to think. it means the difference when rendering 3D files or publishing flash movies. the difference between just regular maintenance or whatever. it all adds up.
so yes, speed does matter...or at least it should to many "designers" and developers alike. it doesn't make you better ... it enables you to be efficient. cute is fine but if it can't keep up cute gets ugly. mac or pc.
dollar for dollar, the low end model G5 is somewhat equal to my box here (+- 300bucks). and mine is still faster. granted, the base G5 is far more expandable, but thats big money. i can build on my box for a few hundred more and presto, more power, speed and space.
that being said, the G5 looks really nice. OSX is very nice and user friendly. again, the one demo'd took hella long to open anything. hell even posting to NT took a minute - loading loading loading. shit, couldn't get iTunes to load for a sec. that took forever. btw-NT on a mac doesn't look all that great.
:(question: anyone have an apple display and using it with their pc? curious. i am thinkin of just getting the display and an adapter, then hookin it up to my box. ?? will it work?
