ok, just talked to my girlfriend. she loves the G5. thinks we should get it. so, it looks like my $2500 is going to be gone after all. so we're possibly looking at about 30days from now to pick one up.
i do agree that the simple fact that it is just a beautful looking machine is what is edging me to get it. can't really deny the fact that apple has made purchasing a computer more of a strategy of visual prowess and usability rather than one of performance gains. most mac users (including myself) get used to slow page loads and ai and ps taking forever to load. hell i can't believe there are flash developers that actually use macs (the best out there http://waxpraxis.org .. maybe i should switch!).
anyway, if only pc cases had the same appeal without the individual having to put so much effort into making their pc dope.
with about 5g's (what i would spend to get G5 and 23" display) I could build a modded pc like the ones on this page: http://www.ak47-modding.de.vu/ (click project links) geez, he even modded the keyboard.

still, the G5 is very nice looking straight from the factory. not sure about speed or reliability yet. decisions decisions
