Tikal obviously - make sure you get a licence to stay in the park overnight when the tourists have been flung out
Take the bus from Tikal/Flores (overnight for some real fun) to Los Pocitos and get the boat to Livingstone (a beautiful coastal Carribbean town - but watch the open sewers that flow into the sea)
Antigua Guatemala was quite fun as i remember (unlike Guatemala City which was a shithole)
The mountain villages up by the mexican border are amazing (can't remember the names though...
Guatemala is just a great place to explore. I don't remember there being lots of sites to see, it was just a great place to be.
Stay clear of Panajachel on Lago de Atitlan - back then it was full of tourists and hippies - god only knows what it's like now.... get a boat to the other side where things are much quieter.
