The small Zune devices are actually nicer than the iPod nano's to me. For the larger ones I like the iPods. However the software can be a bit clunky to me (for Zune). Also, I have a bunch of different languages on my iPod and my Zune doesn't handle those well (as in doesn't display).
I'd still recommend iPod, but perhaps the next version of Zune will change my mind.
