I don't think they're using PPV 3D or maps at all. I think they just created an alpha mask using the face area and am just animating a 2D plane of a face. They left parts of the old guys face on, like his neck and neck shadows, etc. The 2D plane is just the image that you uploaded. When it shows the profile shot, it's just showing half of the image. The overlaying shadows and alpha mask is what's giving the face depth, not the pic you upload. So it's just a dynamic image animated against a video, frame by frame, with added effects and alpha masks to give it depth.
