Before I surgically remove myself from this thread. Spending WAY too much time here.
I'm curious about one thing involving our political structure and the way that our population as a whole views it in terms of their faith and power. Government is made up predominantly of ex lawyers. Not doctors, economists, foreigners, teachers, engineers etc etc. So why does society in general trust the government to be experts in the fields in which constitutes the major decisions they make? Why do we have faith that the people making the decisions are qualified to make them? I really don't understand why we expect people, like you and me, with only the certain range of knowledge and expertise that any one person can have to make the 'right' decision in a realm outside of their knowledge. Why are we so blindly faithful that they make decisions with favorable outcomes for us?
- Not only that, but many experts in their chosen field are ignored for political reasons.SigDesign
- Professional organizations lobby for policy all the time.Mimio
- who is blindly faithful?DrBombay
- I don't think anyone is very faithful of the government these daysSigDesign
