I am doing it now and unfortunately I'm not sure I can keep doing it much longer due to me needing more money to live and I need to be financially stable for the next year in order to re-mortgage when the fixed rate is up. Which is a pain in the arse.

I currently work for myself as much as I can (have my own ltd company and my own clients) and supplement it when needed by going freelance into other people's studios. I rent a desk at a record label and they are my first client - I deal with their and all their artists' design needs which pays for the desk and there is a retainer in top of that. Then up until the past few months my other various clients make sure I can pay my bills.

Things are slowing down now though and I need to get back into full time work for the first time in nearly 3 years to make sure I don't lose my flat when I come off the cheap fixed rate.

    • cant you go to another mortgage deal that isnt fixed rate?mirrorball
