i know designers, architects, artists and programmers all in their 50's and 60's. they are great at what they do and don't bother with trite shit that happens online...never once heard an architect with 20 years experience and countless clients bitch about a 2a rip.
i think one of the major reasons of burnout in this industry, and i'll expect the nieve flames to come, is immaturity, age and inexperience.
the industry is too young and too inexperienced to handle design. and, i'm sure anyone who's been doing this for a decade or two would say so, i know the designers and developers i know agree.
people worry too much about what a portal says is good, and what bullshit is happening to take care in their own work and profession.
if you don't want to burn out, then stop paying attention to crap and design.
there is never a reason to retire from a profession you love, work at and expecially one that requires you to sit all day and think.
