I love the mystique of film. In particular the development process. Mixing your own chemistry, plotting graphs, working in the dark. It had the feeling of alchemy. Downloading photos from a flash card just isn't the same....
But the reality is that it costs WAY too much money - and the prices are only going to get higher. You have too take into account the cost of film, processing, scanning - and YOUR TIME. Not worth it.
Not only that but fewer and fewer film labs seem to be around. And the ones that are surviving seem to be going down hill. Last week in Vancouver a lab ran out of Nitrogen. Oops sorry no more E6 runs for a few days. Unacceptable.
