  a rough salary estimator:

  hourly x 2
  then
  x 1000

  i.e.

  20/hr x 2 = 40
  so $20/hr is roughly $40,000/year

  so you would need to make $50/hour in nyc to make 100k/year(assuming you can get steady work)

  if you're not charging more than $50/hour then you need to:

  a)start charging more than $50/hour or
  b)do some more tutes and get better at your job.

  my last year in NY i never charged less than $100.
