  I think asking others peoples opinions before dropping several thousand dollars on gear is a pretty good idea. Once you have what you need, forget about the toys and work on the craft. Don't worry about the newer camera that will be released 6 months after you buy yours. It's like any technology, it's obsolete as soon as you buy it.
