    i agree with what all these guys have said...

    stay out of dark corners at night and try to speak some spanish, even if it's a bit. people really appreciate the effort and you will be pleasantly surprised in the fact that people are wonderful there. yes don't plan on driving because it's crazy, don't flash your big cameras keep it mellow. there are tons of tourists you won't be the only one.

    "dia de los muertos" festivities will be happening all around Mexico so you'll get a feel for that which is so much fun, i was there last year, visit "coyoacan" if you can.

    if i was you i wouldn't miss "Teotihuacan" of course! and the "Museo de Antropologia" to get a feel for pre hispanic culture, plus the "Castillo de Chapultepec" (which is right next to the museum) to get a feel for what the Spanish brought to Mexico. also the "templo mayor" in downtown, and if you get a chance get out into the country and visit "Tepoztlan" you will not regret it.

    oh yeah the food is fantastic so enjoy your stay because there is no place like it. cheers!
