I answered a similar question to this a couple of years back, which I'm pretty sure could be bodged to fit your needs, but I can't find the file I used (which is strange, because I don't usually delete anything).
Anyhoo, if it's important enough to you, you could invest in 'mesh tools' from http://members.shaw.ca/spvincent… ($30, Mac only)
