i worked for one of the big branding places and it was logos in color, a mini style guide (colors, reversed out and bw logos, different lockups, typeface, any proprietary super graphic that goes along with it as well), and then some applications steering away from stationery. think billboards, vehicles (clients love a mini cooper), signage, maybe a brochure cover, homepage, giftcard, t shirts, hats, lapel pins, etc..., but try to use a few specific to the client's industry. and this was all compiled in a lengthy deck giving background about each design's methodology. no more than 4 were ever shown, usually 3.
