the creation of the 'situation' cant be attributed to one action or event. All the contributing factors have to been seen in relation to each other. if you study the 'causes' of poverty etc. you can be sure you will be led back to the economic policies of the west. Simply put as profiting from 'keeping them down'.
not to bash american policy (I mentioned the UK/France/German/Russian etc involvement) but they have the worst record of 'nation-building' and installing obedient dictators regardless of how they treat their people. Its not visible direct intervention but intervention all the same.
