    I was researching 1TB drives on the internet and did a brisk search like "WD HD failures" or "Lacie HD failures" before actually buying. It seems like there are way more WD (myBook) failures than anything else, but I mean that's not to say Lacie is problem-free either.

    I guess the other factor is that you will get less problems if you have your external HD sitting on your desk and not taking it to random places... As well, I found out if you are going to get a 'portable' external hd, research the casing....
