No, import your raw clips into the FLV Encoder, and compress there.
Use a combo of keyframe placement (ie: 5-6) and bitrate (800-1000), and you should end-up w/ fairly decent video quality.
One day video compression will not be required, as bandwidth will be so high that we can stream huge amounts of data in seconds...
