i've had plenty of brilliant women as bosses.
i haven't found that being a women is a barrier to doing well in design.
when I first started out I found that people wouldn't listen to me, and I assumed it was due to being a woman, but in the end I think it's down to how confidently you present your ideas. if you have a hangup about people not treating you properly because you're a women, you end up feeding the idea. don't feed the monster.
we all know that some men can be sexist pigs, but hey some women can be talkative crying gossips too, let's all just get over the stereotypes and get along!
