Well i dont know about anyone else, but im pretty happy with all the software and apps i can get already - why would I want to install something that was not authorised by the manufacturer. Do you try and put leaded fuel in your unleaded car? - or is there a different shaped nozzel preventing you from doing so? isnt that restricting your choices to fuck up your car or not?! i mean, its your own car! The manufacturer doesnt own it anymore.
If an application is shithot then surely Apple are going to give it the OK anyway so they can sell it through their shop and make some cash from the sales.
The iphone is a complex little thing and i could imagine it would be VERY easy to fuck it all up by installing some crap software you found on some website. So i can see why apple would like the ability to control what goes on the phone.
A lot of people are hating the iphone and i think its people believing the hype of crapmeisters like above trying to sell his book.
I'm fully aware of Apples publicity machine and advertising campaigns and I dont believe that an apple computer will lighten up my life or that if i buy an ipod then il be dancing around happy all the time. Rather than going for these products I actually did some homework and - in the mp3/media player example - I did some research and found the best players to be Archos so I got one of those. My contract was up with my supplier with phone this month so I thought i'd look around. 02 does some good ddeals on the iphone.
It was a no-brainer, the iphone kicks EVERY phone out theres ass in terms of usability (what other manufacturer has a minimal 5 page booklet as their manual ...... NONE!), the amount of apps you can get for the phone.
The PROs WELLLLL outweigh the CONs
Ive seen or owned a lot of gadgets over the years and I have to say this is the most impressive on so many levels
