  What exactly is a poster these days?
  if its a piece of paper with artwork or a design being held like this:
  

  

  Then no, it is more alive than ever, a single print on a large paper canvas being held by a person on a photograph.

  If by poster, he believes that a poster only becomes a poster once its being sticked to a wall or a telephone pole..

  

  then he might be right..
