Right side: + 1 gear
Left side: -1 gearIf, say, you were in 5th gear, you'd have to hit the left paddle 4 times when you slowed down to a stop.
Honestly, though, I leave it on the auto 90% of the time.
(this is on a BMW M3 with the SMG transmission)
