    Thinking more about this...I just honestly am surprised when people make comments like 'why can they say it and I can't'. The logic seems to be that if one cannot relate or understand how someone else feels about a particular thing, then the obvious response is to dismiss their whole perspective. From an experiential standpoint we are all not equal.

    I have a close Jewish friend who has a wary unease of Germans...and occasionally the French. Is it rational? I don't really think so but then I don't really know what it is like to carry the weight of that legacy of discrimination and hatred. I guess my point is that intellectual 'right and wrong' become moot on this level.
