I work in an innovation center. We had 26 people at one time and now we are 7. There were a ton of talented creative people there including amazing Maya artists and what not but most have been laid off.
The design community is a bit fragmented and the outlook is a bit bleak. I wouldn't recommend it even if your group seems cool. IBM likes to reorganize and fuck everything up. On the other hand, you'll get good (or decent) pay and good experience and there isn't a ton out there.
