Man, there are an insane number of bands traveling across the US at any one time that are lucky to have anyone show up at their shows. I totally feel for them.

Long distance, multi-week touring is always a goal for any band, but for ours I've never really considered it. Bands beat themselves silly trying to get big through touring when they're still at a relatively unknown level anywhere, even their hometown. For the last few years that's just never struck me as a logical way to "make it."

I've got a few friends' bands out on the road right now, supported by labels, playing cool venues, playing some horrible venues, etc. etc. and it's gotta be tough as hell to break even. They do it because they just totally love it. I love it to [playing live] just have a different set of goals I guess. I don't have the time to travel all over the US, not until someone else would be paying for it - and if that never happens, I'm totally content with never having done that.
