    Imo, it's about the lesson within the lesson.
    He was at a turning point in his life and he went for it, sought out his "ideal life" only to come to the realization in the end that happiness is only real when you share it.
    He didn't want to kill himself, it just turned out that way, he didn't have a detailed map of the area or a compass.. bad move.
