NiCad and NiMH batteries develope a 'charge memory'
if you don't fully discharge them, before recharging them, and then charge them the whole way, they develope a plateau which limits your amp/hours.
so if you keep using your minidisc for 15 minutes at a shot, then charging it, it will develope a memory and eventually it will only hold enough charge for 15 minutes.
lithium ion batteries don't suffer from the same problem, but they're hella spendy.
