Even though most of us have been doing this for 10+, there still is a lot of people out there that have no idea about interactive.

The days of the comprehensive user centric engagements are behind us. People aren't oohing and aahing at the mention of "usability" and dropping 5 million for the creation of every work product you can think of. However, these things are still important and it is having enough process makes the difference in a complex project.

Most agencies break things down into the 4Ds:
    - DISCOVERY - Audience Research (User Profiles/Personas), Feature Requirements
    - DESIGN - Visual Design, Information Architecture (Site Map Wire Frames), Copy/Content Strategy
    - DEVELOPMENT - Front-End Technology (HTML/CSS/AJAX), Flash, Back-End Development
    - DEPLOYMENT - Testing, Post Launch Analytics

    I hope that helps.
