    Hmmm...I would prefer that you talk to me about it first. I'm specific, and I actually don't care about diamonds (I don't care about jewellery, in general).

    I guess you should get the diamond, but, if possible, maybe discuss it with her. If it's a complete surprise then go with the diamond.
