Hmm...it's kind of like post-(insert theory here, ie. feminism, structuralism, modernism, etc.), though. It won't go on forever. Once there's some kind of change or evolution (according to theorists), a new term will mark the period during and after that evolution. Just because it is entitled, "new", doesn't mean that it is "new" or "current" (although it usually does include "new" thoughts). Perhaps the term "new media" will only refer to all things digital, interactive, Internet, etc., but who knows what will happen in the future.
