I made a 48" x 72" poster at 300dpi and argued with the printer when they said I didn't have to make it at that high of a resolution.

It was my first job as a designer.

    • I'm print illiterate also, I have to create a 22x34 poster, for that size should I go 300 dpi? Or lower?stoplying
    • i'd do something that size at 300, but it depends on the printer.OnesandZeros
    • Okay, thanks...stoplying
    • ask the printer what the LPI is (lines per inch) then double it for DPI. (so 85 LPI... most newspapers... 170 DPI)cramdesign
    • I had that same argument when I started out with a printer over a billboard design.monkeyshine
    • ...no wonder printers loathe designers. :)monkeyshine
    • onesandzeros they most likely print at about 150 dpi. thats why they were arguing.Iggyboo
