Sawyer could've stayed on the island too. He didn't really have much to live for, and, although it's a bit surprising since he's been exhibiting more sensitivity lately, he may not be so attached to his daughter that he feels he has to be there for her. He could've told Kate to take care of something for him in relation to his child (although, since Kate didn't feel like she could tell Jack, perhaps there is something more to Sawyer's story; or maybe Jack is just that jealous). It's strange, since Sawyer was closer to Claire lately. I thought maybe they would be together on the island, but she doesn't have her baby anymore. Sucks to be Aaron's unknowing grandmother.
Everyone who gets off the island is tortured mentally, and maybe even until the day they die. There are still some people that we need to get further stories about, but there are many episodes left in the series.
