    Atkinson - congrats on the baby!

    I have to convert the .avi files to get them to work in iMovie. VisualHub does this easily and quickly. It's $24 for the software - I know some people don't like paying for stuff like that, but I use it for lots more than converting .avi files too.

    Flip Cam File info says (in QT):
    3ivx MPEG-4 5.0.1, 640 x 480, Millions
    Microsoft ADPCM, Mono, 44.100 kHz.

    I can throw up a file for you if you'd like to check compatibility with your machine. Just let me know.

    And check out Perian - it allows playback of a bunch of non-mac native formats. Good luck.
