Oddly, I love the ending of "Big Trouble in Little China," and that it's not that he doesn't get the girl, he rejects the girl, probably cuz she's a pain in the ass.
Other grim and/or non-traditional favorite endings I like:
Children of Men
Moulin Rouge
The Crying Game
Any Shakespeare tragedy, really- Kurt Russell and John Carpenter rock. They should only make films together.ian
