mock ads.
your design experience will count for a lot. (unfortunatly it is harder to go from print to "multimedia")wouldnt hurt to take on some freelance print jobs. maybe just some brochures or something to help pack your folio and get some practice in. but really, it is all about samples. even mock ads are good for getting your foot in the door.
rule #1: you can't print actual size at 72dpi. it looks worse than turds. =)
