honestly, all the 3d packages will do what you need and much more. But as someone starting out in the world of 3D, you'd be hard pressed to find a lower learning curve than cinema 4d. And that's not to say that it's incapable of producing high end work: it can. It's just I found myself wrestling less with that app than any of the others i tried (max & maya). Also, I came with some after effects knowledge and when learning C4D, there was a bit of carry over and alot of integration between the two apps.
to give you an idea, all the 3d in my reel was was done in cinema.
