    usually begin with identifying the competitive set in the market, looking for holes, then defining the brandscape, going through a round of moodboard exercises that would work within that brandscape and see where the client's head is.

    from there you can jump into creative. i usually do 3-4 options with any type of market specific applications the client type may warrant in addition to the basics like an outdoor spot, a tshirt, and the ever popular mini cooper livery.
