elPaulo, I agree with k0na. I don't know why God lets certain things happen, there is not an explanation that satisfies a grieving son, friend, etc...

I do believe this world is corrupt, and that the state of things was originally our doing; we merely continue to reap the consequences, handed down from one generation to the next, until a perfect world comes along. So: death, disease and heartache happens. I don't know why God lets these things continue to happen, but I think there is a point to all of it...it just hasn't been made clear thus far. I do know that those of us who experience deep pain – if it does not break us or embitter us – are able to experience true joy all the more.

From what I know about God, he does not gloat over our suffering. He does not enjoy seeing people in pain. He loves all, and gives each of us a certain amount of common grace; even those who do not believe he even exists. By common grace I mean the ability to live, breathe, wake up rested in the morning, laugh, feel, and even to be happy at times. There is a grace beyond that that saves, but it requires God to reconcile us to himself. I take comfort knowing that even those who do not believe he exists are given daily comforts in spite of their unbelief. That alone tells me that God is patient and irrevocably kind, even if we are not.
