    eventually is the key word. unlike english, french (like portuguese or spanish for example) has a very distinct way of working with grammar and vocabulary. you have different kinds of YOU for example (one for your mates, another for use in a more respectful way, another for dealing with strangers etc) and different ways of using nouns and verbs etc depending on the situations, sex (yes female or male), plurals, and who you're talking to. It's a hard language if you're not already used to that kind of thing and the french are not the most foreign-language friendly people.
