    By way of an EOY list in Newsweek I have discovered a really great Japanese author named Haruki Murakami. The book I picked up is called "Norwegian Wood," and he has several books that look really interesting, including some short story books.

    I have also been reading short story books by http://www.mcsweeneys.com for a while. My girlfriend got me their Comic Book issue for Christmas and I totally love it. The art styles have about as much variety as you can get and the comics are pretty smart.
