I find it funny that if someone has a negative opinion on a 'popular' artist then they're either trying to claw their way to the top by bashing a person more famous than them...or they're just jealous. I think simply the images of Fairys FUCT ripoffs is enough to make your tummy turn. Those are not 'appropriations' as much as they are blatant ripoffs.
In the end we're all going to canonize those we choose to, and no matter what there will always be someone that feels the polar opposite. With Fairy, I've never felt like the guy was all that unique in the first place. And about his 'craftsmanship,' I would fucking hope that he was a good craftsman since he's been pumping out the exact same style for 12 years or so. I'd peel potatoes perfectly if I've been doing it for practically my whole life. I tend to enjoy artists who take risks and constantly challenge themselves. I feel like we shouldn't strive for greatness of fame if we're sacrificing being interesting and unique.
